We love when beauty meets practicality!
CCM member Austin recently finished this gorgeous “big bench” made from rustic gummy cherry and a few pieces of red oak. These before and after photos do an excellent job of showing how oiling brings out the wood’s gorgeous grain.
We especially love the custom texture on the back of this piece! In Austin’s own words: “The texture was done by caaaaarefully using a grinder with a wire wheel attachment in several passes. It removed the softer grain, leaving the harder grain to give that windswept dune feel. I went back over it with 320 grit sandpaper to leave it looking rough while actually taking off any catching fibers. I really love how all that texture is kind of a secret behind the front-facing cleanliness and angles!”

Clear Creek Crypt, our annual Halloween mixer, returns once again on October 29th, and this year, there’s been a murder. This all-ages, sober social gathering will give guests an opportunity to show off their costumes and socialize with the CCM community, learn about the makerspace, and of course, solve the whodunnit. We’ve prepared a murder mystery scavenger hunt across our Fab Lab, Woodshop, and Metal shop! Solve it well enough, and you might just win a prize!

Member Robert F. recently completed this side table featuring a gorgeous Tree of Life design. He used our laser cutter to create 6 pieces (5 of plywood and 1 of acrylic) that layer perfectly together to create this intricate design. Topped with glass and lit with an LED strip, this incredible piece is now finished and ready to use!
